[09.08.09] Joe Cheng hits music world with 'Chang One Song'

Joe Cheng hits the music world, after secret preparations for almost one year, actively practicing singing & dancing. Sure enough, his title track ‘Chang One Song’ has been revealed, and his hot music and dance performance has astonished fans! Joe said modestly that his singing isn’t the best, but he hopes his performance is sincere and solid. He also praised Lin Chi Ling’s singing voice as very sweet, warm and is not ruling out a future duet collaboration.

In order to transform into an all-rounded ‘can sing, can dance’ artist, Joe spent 3 months working out, even during his stage drama tour. Even when he went overseas, he took his elastic rope for training. And from his initial 188cm, 80kg standard figure, he quickly lost 3kg, and his chin has also got sharper. During his photoshoot in Japan, there was one seductive photo of him soaking up in the hot spring, and made fans very excited. So how far did he go? We’ll have to wait till the birth of the album.

Joe revealed that during his training, he once lost his confidence. His daily dance practices were kept a secret under the record company’s confidentiality clause he had signed, even his parents had no idea. All he could do was repeatedly practise his dance routines infront of the stereo and speakers, and he began to feel very frustrated. However, on the day of filming the MV, Lin Chi Ling’s praise ‘extremely handsome’ and the director’s recognition of his superb dance skills made Joe restore his confidence!

The first time entering the recording studio, Joe expressed that when he heard his crisp, clear sound through his headphones, he felt scared. His vocal teacher stressed the importance of clear pronunciation, has to be “very clear”. This made him lose his sense of direction, leaving him very distressed. Fortunately, his self-confidence gradually built up, and for his first EP performance, Joe gave himself a grade of 65-70.

Singing KTV is a vital form of entertainment in the younger generation, but Joe revealed that the songs he picks are always very old-fashioned. He likes singing classic songs such as ‘Hiroshima Mon Amour’. He laughed saying singing with Shin gives him a lot of pressure, the high notes would scare the life out of him, and he only would be responsible for picking songs, cutting songs, and drinking. It is during his meet-ups with Ethan Ruan & Mike He where he would be most crazy, and sing everything. There was once, when he was extremely drunk, and he performed a dynamic dance, crazily shaking his chests in a very embarrassing state, but he had no memory of this until someone told him the next day.
